The Southampton Arts Center is charging toward Labor Day weekend with a jazz concert, a film program, and a Summerfest benefit.
In partnership with Hamptons Jazz Fest, the center will bring Duduka Da Fonseca and Brazilian Jazz All-Stars to its west lawn on Saturday at 7 p.m. A Brazilian jazz drummer with four Grammy nominations to his credit, Mr. Da Fonseca has appeared on over 250 albums with icons of American and Brazilian jazz. He came to prominence accompanying Herbie Mann, Astrud Gilberto, and Antonio Carlos Jobim. Tickets are $20, $15 for members.
On Sunday evening at 7:30, the center's west lawn will also be the site of the eighth iteration of Mountainfilm on Tour in Southampton, a program of documentaries from the Mountainfilm festival in Telluride, Colo.
Before the screenings, which will begin at dusk, two of the filmmakers, Stephen Michael Simon and Jeremy Dennis, will discuss their work with Elyn Kronemeyer, who hosts the festival with her husband, Jeff.
Mr. Simon's film "Bacon 'N' Laces" is a 19-minute documentary about a blind single father of three who manages a classic diner outside New York City. Mr. Dennis's "Ma's House" explores the evolution of Native American art and the building of Ma's House & BIPOC Art Center on Shinnecock Nation territory.
Other films include Daniel Lombroso's "American Scar," Shiouwen Hong's "Caliefah," Danny Schmidt's "Janwaar," Joshua Seftel's "Stranger at the Gate," and Augey Marc and Collet Andy's "Write Your Line." Tickets are $10, free for members.
A two-part benefit for the center will happen next Thursday. Summerfest will feature cocktails, hors d'oeuvres from local restaurants, and a performance by the Broadway actor and singer Jessica Vosk, who is best known for her performance as the lead role of Elphaba in "Wicked." Tickets for Summerfest, which begins at 6 p.m., start at $1,000.
For those still standing and 21 and over, the first annual Summerfest After Dark party will kick off after the performance at 10 p.m. Tickets are $250.
