Doc Fest Tix
Tickets are now on sale for the 16th annual Hamptons Doc Fest, which will screen 30 films from Nov. 30 through Dec. 6 at the Sag Harbor Cinema and its Bay Street Theater neighbor.

The festival will open with "In the Company of Rose," James Lapine's film about Rose Styron's life with her late husband, the novelist William Styron. The closing film is "Rather," Frank Marshall's documentary about Dan Rather, the journalist and newscaster.

Matthew Heineman, a nine-time Emmy Award-winning filmmaker, will receive the Pennebaker Career Achievement Award before the screening of his latest film, "American Symphony," on Dec. 2.

Jazz Fest in Sag
Hamptons Jazz Fest and the South Fork Natural History Museum will present a performance by Carl Safina and Moment's Notice on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Masonic Temple in Sag Harbor.

Mr. Safina, who will serve as drummer and M.C., is better known to East End audiences as a notable ecologist, writer, MacArthur "genius" prize recipient, and endowed professor for nature and humanity at Stony Brook University.

He will be accompanied by John Ludlow on saxophone, Omar Kabir on trumpet, Rod Borrie on trombone, Douglas Baldwin on guitar, and Charles Buonasera on bass.

The suggested donation is $20, and doors will open at 6:30.

Producing for TV
"Seen Behind the Scene," a talk by Steve Taub, an Emmy-nominated producer, writer, and director, will happen at the Montauk Library on Sunday afternoon at 2:30.

Mr. Taub will discuss the producer's role and clarify some of the basic steps of proposing and developing material for television, including concept, pitches, budgets, treatments, trailers, distribution, and funding. Other topics include how to get a show on PBS, why reality shows have become so popular, and how streaming has altered viewing habits.

Two short videos produced by Mr. Taub, the trailer for "Holocaust Testimonial" and "A Day in the Life of a Stand-up Comedian," will be shown and discussed. A question-and-answer session will follow the talk.

Comedic Foursome
The Sticks and Stones Comedy Club will return to the Southampton Cultural Center with two 7 p.m. shows this weekend, Friday and Saturday. Both programs feature sets by Joe Winchell, Truck Hudson, Moody McCarthy, and Johnny MacDonald.

Mr. Winchell, the evening's host, is a Sag Harbor local and Pierson High School graduate who has been on the stand-up circuit for six years. Mr. Hudson, an actor as well as a comedian, has appeared in "The Last O.G." on TBS and Netflix's "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt."

Mr. McCarthy's credits include "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and "Late Show with David Letterman." Mr. MacDonald, who has been seen on the Discovery Channel, performs at comedy clubs throughout New York City.

Tickets start at $35, with doors opening at 6.
