Opera and Musicals
The Met: Live in HD will return to the Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor with a simulcast of Robert Carsen's staging of Giuseppe Verdi's 1893 opera "Falstaff" on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
The baritone Michael Volle stars in the title role of the caddish knight who is tormented by a trio of clever women. The comedy is an amalgamation of scenes from Shakespeare, primarily from "The Merry Wives of Windsor." While the opera is set in the early 15th century, the current Met production locates the action in mid-20th-century England.
Tickets are $35.
London's Theatre Royal is the source of a screening of "Kinky Boots" at Bay Street on Saturday evening at 8. With songs by Cyndi Lauper, a script by Harvey Fierstein, and direction and choreography by Jerry Mitchel, the play garnered six Tony Awards and an Olivier Award.
Also from the Theatre Royal is "42nd Street," set for April 8 at 8 p.m. Directed by Mark Bramble, co-author of the book for the original Broadway and West End productions, the musical includes such standards as "Lullaby of Broadway" and "We're in the Money."
Tickets for each screening are $35 and $31.50 for children.
