Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor has a wide variety of diversions this week ranging from a celebration of Latino culture to playwriting, with some Beatles music for good measure.
On Friday, Organizacion Latino Americana of Eastern Long Island is bringing Pachanga, an evening of live music and dancing, at 7 p.m. with performances by Mila Tina and Sydney.
Ms. Tina energizes her audience with a mix of drums, percussion, dance, martial arts, visual design, and technology, while Sydney's spoken-word performances have attracted international audiences.
The evening will continue with dancing to the Afro-Cuban and Puerto Rican "old school" Latin music of Mambo Loco.
Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. A reception and cash bar are part of the festivities.
Lennon and Lit
Also at Bay Street, the music of John Lennon and a panel discussion on adapting literature into plays will keep the theater busy this weekend.
The Moondogs, an East End Beatles cover band, will focus on Lennon's songs from 1961 to 1971 on Saturday at 8 p.m. They’ll perform classics from his Beatle years, a few deeper cuts, and some of Lennon’s solo/Plastic Ono Band music. Tickets are $35.
Robert Schenkkan, a Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning playwright, and Vincent Murphy, a playwright and director, will discuss "Page to Stage: The Craft of Adaptation" on Sunday at 5 p.m. Scott Schwartz, Bay Street's artistic director, will join the conversation, which will be preceded by a one-day writing workshop led by Mr. Murphy.
The suggested donation for the talk is $20. The three-hour workshop, set for 1 p.m., is $75.
