The Montauk Library will launch its Summertime Series of four directed play readings with a free staged reading of August Strindberg's 1888 play "Miss Julie" on Sunday afternoon at 3:30.

The play is the story of Julie, an aristocratic young woman, who has a brief affair with Jean, her father's valet. After the initial thrill, they realize they have little or nothing in common -- heredity, as well as social and psychological factors, have determined their futures.

Directed by Kate Mueth and produced by Josh Gladstone, the production is based on Richard Nelson's adaptation of the original. It stars Stephanie Orta-Vazquez as Julie, Max Samuels as Jean, and Amanda Kristin Nichols as Christine, Jean's fiancee.

The Summertime Series has been organized by Carolyn Balducci, the library's adult programs director.
