Edward Joseph's "The Stuff That Dreams Are Made of" is at the Lucore Art Gallery in Montauk.

Creative Visions

“Mind’s Eye,” a surrealist group exhibition that reflects the transformative power of the artist’s imagination, opens today at the Lucore Art Gallery in Montauk and will run through Oct. 29. A reception will be held Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m.

The show explores how artists perceive, feel, and react to life’s experiences, says the gallery, expressing those moments through their unique creative visions. Participating artists are Marilyn Church, Edward Joseph, Christa Maiwald, Peter Ngo, Matthew Schwartz, and Alicia Suarez.

Donna Corvi’s painting “Verdure” can be seen in “The End II” at the Depot Gallery in Montauk.

Season’s End at Depot

The Depot Gallery in Montauk opens its final exhibition of the season today. A reception is set for Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m., and the show will continue through Oct. 21.

Featured are works by more than 40 gallery members, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, glass work, photography, and mixed media in a broad range of styles.

A random sampling of the exhibitors turned up Joel Casserly, Phyllis Chillingworth. Donna Corvi, Mary Daunt, Quincy Egginton, Alex Ferrone, Gary Kuehn, Chris Lucore, Carl Scorza, Lou Spitalnick, Marilyn Stevenson, and Lieve Thiers.

Call for Artists

Artists ages 12 and up have been invited to take part in a small-art fund-raiser for the benefit of the Hampton Library in Bridgehampton. A release form and canvases, which are 10 by 10 inches, can be picked up at the library; all subjects and styles are acceptable. The completed artwork is due back at the library by Nov. 30.

Finished pieces will be on view and for sale in the Geri Bauer Art Gallery during the library’s holiday open house on Dec. 7 from 1 to 3 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the gallery, which runs exhibitions of work by local artists throughout the year, free of charge.

The Sweet Smell of Nostalgia at Sagaponack General

Stepping into the new Sagaponack General Store, which reopened yesterday after being closed since 2020, is a sweet experience, and not just because there’s a soft-serve ice cream station on the left and what promises to be the biggest penny candy selection on the South Fork on your right, but because it’s like seeing an old friend who, after some struggle, made it big. Really, really big.
