The Art Scene 11.21.24

Tue, 11/19/2024 - 11:44
Casey Chalem Anderson’s “Gray Heron Flight” will be at the Romany Kramoris Gallery in Sag Harbor.

On Charlotte Park

In conjunction with its current exhibition “Charlotte Park: The Life of Forms in Color,” the Parrish Art Museum will host a talk by Klaus Ottmann, its Robert Lehman Curator and organizer of the Park show, Friday at 6 p.m.

The exhibition follows the artist’s abstractions of color and form, inspired by organic life, from her tentative embraces of color in the mid-1950s through playful and assertive compositions in the ‘80s. Park’s work was often related to the woodsy environment where she lived and worked, off Neck Path in Springs.

Tickets are $20, $18 for senior citizens, $15 for members’ guests, $13 for members, and free for students and children.

Small Works Show

A sure sign of the season is the “Annual Small Works Holiday Invitational” exhibition at the Romany Kramoris Gallery in Sag Harbor, which will open on Saturday with a reception from 1 to 6 p.m. Open-house receptions will be held every Saturday throughout the holiday season during the same hours.

Among the more than 40 participating artists are Michael Albert, Adriana Barone, Linda Capello, Quincy Egginton, Christopher Engel, Patricia Feiwel, Barbara Groot, Peter Gumpel, Peter Lipman-Wulf, Veronica Mezzina, Christina Schlesinger, and Roger Sichel. All the artworks in the show are 20 by 20 inches or smaller.

The exhibition will run through Jan. 19.

Grenning's Gems

The Sweet Smell of Nostalgia at Sagaponack General

Stepping into the new Sagaponack General Store, which reopened yesterday after being closed since 2020, is a sweet experience, and not just because there’s a soft-serve ice cream station on the left and what promises to be the biggest penny candy selection on the South Fork on your right, but because it’s like seeing an old friend who, after some struggle, made it big. Really, really big.
