Holiday Shows

Our Fabulous Variety Show will be at Guild Hall this weekend with two holiday-themed shows, starting tomorrow at 7 p.m. with “Our Fabulous Chrismukkah Carol: A Holiday Rewrite.”

A twist on “A Christmas Carol,” the story has been rewritten to be more inclusive of other holiday celebrations and cultures, and modernized to the present day. The story follows Ebenezer Scrooge Jr. (“Benny”), as he navigates friendship, accountability, and rebuilding his family with his father, Ebenezer, after they experience an unexpected tragedy.

The show includes dance routines, classic holiday tunes sung by Dickens-style carolers, and plenty of comic relief. It will also be performed Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday afternoon at 2. Tickets range from $20 to $45, with table seating for $50.

Also on tap is O.F.V.S.’s Rainbow Holiday Cabaret, set for Saturday at 8 p.m., following “Chrismukkah.” The variety show will feature the drag queens RaffaShow and Miss Nina; comedy; vocals by Anna Francesca Schiavoni, and improv sets with Anita Boyer, Kasia Klimiuk, and Joe Pallister. Tickets are $20 to $30, with table seating for $35.

Garden Roundtable

The next roundtable discussion of the Horticultural Alliance of the Hamptons will be held on Saturday from 10 to noon at the Bridgehampton Community House.

Titled “A Year in the Garden: A Look Back at Our Successful and Less-Than-Successful Efforts,” the timing is apt, according to the alliance, as December is when gardens have been put to bed and gardeners can look back and determine what to do again, what to do differently, and what not to do at all in the new year.

Participants have been invited to take samples or photographs, and Pamela Harwood, the program’s moderator, will bring free seeds for fall or winter sowing of Papaver somniferum (opium poppy) for a spring display.

The program is free to all.

Jazz and Glam Jam

Jazz Night at Sag Harbor’s Masonic Temple, from the Jam Session, will return on Friday evening at 7 with “Roots and Rhythms: A Jazz Fusion Journey.” The musicians are Michael Cruse, trumpet; Scott Kreitzer, saxophone; Bill O’Connell, piano; Santi Debriano, bass, and Claes Brondal, drums.

When doors open at 6:30, guests can buy South Indian vegetarian food from Tapovana Lunch Box to enjoy during the program. The cost of a box is $20; plastic utensils will be available. Concert tickets are $20.

The Glam Jam returns to the temple’s inner sanctum next Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. Walk-in musicians have been advised to arrive early to sign up to join the jam. Admission is a can of nonperishable food, which will be donated to local food pantries.

The Sweet Smell of Nostalgia at Sagaponack General

Stepping into the new Sagaponack General Store, which reopened yesterday after being closed since 2020, is a sweet experience, and not just because there’s a soft-serve ice cream station on the left and what promises to be the biggest penny candy selection on the South Fork on your right, but because it’s like seeing an old friend who, after some struggle, made it big. Really, really big.
