Paul Pavia’s “Insistent Memory,” from 2021, acrylic on wood relief, is in the commemorative show of his work at Ashawagh Hall in Springs.

For Paul Pavia
A commemorative exhibition of sculptures and paintings by Paul Pavia, an East Hampton artist who died of a heart attack in July at the age of 52, can be seen at Ashawagh Hall in Springs from Thursday through Sunday. A reception will be held on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. The gallery's hours are noon to 5.

The show, organized by Folioeast, will also include pieces by James DeMartis, Natalie Edgar, Elaine Grove, Dennis Lawrence, Dennis Leri, Tim Tibus, Aurelio Torres, and Charles Waller.

Women, Persevering
"Perseverance," an exhibition of artworks by 29 women, opens Thursday at the Berry Campbell Gallery in Chelsea and will continue through Feb. 3. The show, which the gallery says reflects its commitment to the rediscovery and advancement of female artists, also fosters an environment for artwork created across temporal and geographic contexts.

Among the artists, past and present, with East End connections are Mary Abbott, Nanette Carter, Perle Fine, Helen Frankenthaler, Grace Hartigan, Charlotte Park, and Elaine de Kooning.

In From the Cold
The Leiber Collection in Springs has organized an exhibition of work by artists from its outdoor ”Garden of Friends” exhibition to open Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kathryn Markel Fine Arts in Bridgehampton. It will run through Jan. 28.

Ann Fristoe Stewart, the director and curator of the Leiber Collection, has chosen works by Monica Banks, Scott Bluedorn, Philippe Cheng, Peter Dayton, Jeremy Dennis, Sabra Moon Elliot, Saskia Friedrich, Jeremy Grosvenor, Candace Hill-Montgomery, Erica-Lynn Huberty, Laurie Lambrecht, Jill Musnicki, Toni Ross, Bastienne Schmidt, Christine Sciulli, Bill Stewart, and Almond Zigmund.

The Sweet Smell of Nostalgia at Sagaponack General

Stepping into the new Sagaponack General Store, which reopened yesterday after being closed since 2020, is a sweet experience, and not just because there’s a soft-serve ice cream station on the left and what promises to be the biggest penny candy selection on the South Fork on your right, but because it’s like seeing an old friend who, after some struggle, made it big. Really, really big.
