Concert for the Planet

The Iris Trio, which explores the impact of human behavior on the environment through chamber music and poetry, will perform at LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton on Saturday at 2 p.m. The trio includes Christine Carter on clarinet, Anna Petrova on piano, and Zoe Martin-Doike on violin.

The trio will play selections from “The Blue and Green Chapters of Project Earth,” a multi-year project created in response to the climate crisis.

The Blue Chapter, which features compositions by Florian Hoefner, also a jazz pianist, and poetry written and recited by Don McKay, was inspired by nesting birds on islands around the Newfoundland coast.

The Green Chapter includes new compositions by the musicians Sarah Slean and Andrew Downing, and original poetry by Karen Solie. The piece is “an homage to the life of trees and a meditation on farming practices and the dwindling habitat of unbroken shortgrass prairie.”

Tickets are $40, $30 for members.

Comedy and a Recital

The Sticks and Stones Comedy Club returns to the Southampton Cultural Center tomorrow with an 8 p.m. performance by Chris Trotta, Lauren Festa, and Michelle Schwartzman, and a screening of the Hamptons Comedy Film Festival.

Tickets are $35 for general admission, $50 for reserved seating, and $70 for royal treatment. Doors open at 7:30.

The Rising Stars Piano Series at the cultural center will host a recital by Bryan Wallick, a gold medal winner at the 1997 Vladimir Horowitz International Piano Competition in Kyiv, on Saturday at 6 p.m. Mr. Wallick has performed throughout the United States, Europe, and Africa.

His program will include Bach’s Toccata, Mendelssohn’s E minor Prelude and Fugue, Liszt/Schubert’s “Gretchen” and “On the Water,” Liszt’s “Funerailles,” Hamelin’s Prelude and Fugue, and Shostakovich’s Prelude and Fugue.

Tickets cost $20 in advance, $25 at the door, and free for students under 21.

Spoken Word

“Spring Cleaning,” the third iteration of The Church’s Word series of spoken word and readings, will feature the Rev. Houston R. Cypress, Rachel DeLoache Williams, and Adriana Devers on Saturday at 6 p.m. The writers have been asked to reflect, declutter, and return to ideas or stories that may have been put aside; hence the program’s title.

An open mike will follow the readings. Only three spots will be available for the open mike. Those interested in reading have been asked to arrive at the Sag Harbor venue early, to put their names on the sign-up list at check-in. Readers will be limited to three minutes.

Cafe table seats are $25; regular seating is $15.

Natural Landscaping

Susan Barton, a professor in the plant and soil sciences department at the University of Delaware, will discuss “Sustainable Landscaping” in a Zoom lecture sponsored by the Horticultural Alliance of the Hamptons on Sunday at 2 p.m.

The talk will focus on methods of incorporating landscape beds, meadows, and forest fragments into the landscape to attract wildlife and create enjoyment. Alliance members will receive a link via email; nonmember tickets are $10 from hahgarden.org/tickets.

The Jim Jeffrey Camellia Group will meet at the Bridgehampton Community House on Saturday morning at 10, when members will be able to present their collections. The event is free for nonmembers.
