Hungarian Concert
"The Bringers of Light," a performance of the music of Zoltan Kodaly by the Choral Society of the Hamptons, will be held on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at the East Hampton Presbyterian Church.
Kodaly (1882-1967), a composer, ethnomusicologist, and linguist, was one of the most outstanding personalities of 20th-century Hungarian culture. His internationally acknowledged concept of music education is the basis for general music teaching in Hungary and also plays an important role in the training of professional musicians.
Under the baton on Sunday will be Kinga Cserjési, a Hungarian conductor and Libero Canto singing teacher. The choral society will be accompanied by two Hungarian musicians, Alexandra Balog on piano, and Noemi Sallai on clarinet, and by the organist Peter Ludlow of Bridgehampton.
Tickets are $35, $75 for preferred seating, $10 for students.
