Creative Dialogue at LongHouse

Tue, 06/25/2024 - 13:54
Arta Brito, whose 2023 self-portrait “Arta Through the Looking Glass” is seen here, will be at LongHouse Reserve to talk about her work with MAGO, an artist and curator.

LongHouse Reserve’s Insider Outsider series features conversations with underrepresented artists whose works challenge and inspire. Arta Brito, a figurative artist, will be at the East Hampton venue on Sunday morning at 11 to discuss her work with MAGO, an artist and curator.

Born in Ecuador, Ms. Brito is a classically trained painter whose work explores gender and queer themes inspired by both personal and current events. Her new body of work, motivated by her own transition, creates a space where transgender people can see themselves represented in the world.

MAGO, a.k.a. Enrique J. Martinez, identifies as “a queer Latinx creator, producer, conceptual artist, diversity curator -- anything that falls under the umbrella of diversity and amplification.”

Tickets are $35, $25 for members, free for students.

Really, really big.
