Gabriele Raacke’s “The Circus Is Over,” a painting on glass, will be at Haubrich Art in Springs.

In the Leiber Garden

The first of a series of artists’ events in its sculpture garden will happen at the Leiber Collection in Springs on Saturday at 4 p.m. Perry Burns, Philippe Cheng, Jennifer Cross, Donna Green, Bastienne Schmidt, and Amy Wickersham will discuss their new works on view in the collection’s “Garden of Friends” exhibition.

Other artists in the show are Monica Banks, Scott Bluedorn, Eva Faye, Sandi Haber Fifield, Candace Hill Montgomery, Laurie Lambrecht, Jill Musnicki, Sabina Streeter, and Almond Zigmund.

The Leiber Collection is free and open from 1 to 4 p.m. every Saturday, Sunday, and Wednesday.

State of the Art World

The Parrish Art Museum will host a panel discussion about the state of the contemporary art world tomorrow at 6 p.m. The topics include what’s hot at the moment, what collectors are asking about, what always remains popular, and how anyone can engage with the world of art.

The panelists are Christine Berry, co-owner of Berry Campbell Gallery; Ana Maria Celis, senior vice president at Christie’s; and a trio of art advisers: Elizabeth Fiore, Steven Sergiovanni, and Andrea Pemberton, a Parrish trustee.

Tickets are $20, $12 for members’ guests and senior citizens, and $10 for members.

The Circus Is Coming

“Circus,” a show of glass figures, glass paintings, and glass prints by Gabriele Raacke and abstract paintings by John Haubrich, will open Saturday at Haubrich Art, 39 Isle of Wight Road in Springs, with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. The Circus theme spotlights the playfulness of Ms. Raacke’s glass work and Mr. Haubrich’s expressive and colorful abstract paintings.

The exhibition will continue through Aug. 11. Appointments can be made via email to [email protected].

Call for Artists

The Nature Conservancy’s Andy Warhol Visual Arts Program has issued a call for artists to lead a fall or winter 2024 full-day workshop at the Andy Warhol Preserve, an oceanfront property in Montauk.

Applicants have been invited to design workshops suitable for a range of ages, with a connection to the preserve and its natural surroundings. Four artists will be chosen by the selection committee; each will receive a stipend of $1,000 plus reasonable costs for supplies. Artists will be responsible for their transportation to the property.

The application deadline is Wednesday. More information is available from Monica Anzaldi at [email protected].

East End Photo Group

“Sun, Sand, and Surf,” a show of work by members of the East End Photographers Group, opens today at the Water Mill Museum and will remain on view through Aug. 11. The exhibition features traditional, digital, and alternative photographic processes, and includes work by Ann Brandeis, Ron Buchter, Gerry Giliberti, David Gilmore, Danielle Leef, Keith Manning, Joanna McCarthy, James Slezak, Adriane Stark, Marilyn Stevenson, Mark Testa, and Alan Weinschel.

A reception will be held on Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m.

The Lure of the Horizon

The Monika Olko Gallery in Sag Harbor will open “Horizons: Earth, Sea, and Sky,” a show of paintings by Michele D’Ermo, with a reception tomorrow from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The new series depicts the beauty of the horizon line and reflects nature’s hold on the artist’s sensibility.

Inspired in part by the paintings of Rothko and Turner, Ms. D’Ermo applies spontaneous layers of paint to the canvas to make transparent, luminous surfaces that derive more from remembered sensations than from direct observation of nature.

The exhibition will run through Aug. 16.

Father and Son

A show of paintings by Christopher Engel opens today at Sag Harbor’s Romany Kramoris Gallery and will continue through Aug. 15. Paintings by Franklin Engel, Christopher’s father, are on view as well.

Christopher blends figurative and abstract imagery, using expressive brushstrokes and a lively interplay of colors. Inspired by the writing and imagery of Carl Jung, he depicts archetypal images of the collective unconscious.

Franklin has created abstract images that combine ceramic, wood, and stones with hidden texts, symbols, and gestures that recall cave paintings and early astronomical drawings.

Montauk Double Play

“In Dreams,” a show of paintings by 12 artists that explore dreams and fantasy, opens today at 484 Gallery in Montauk and will continue through Aug. 11. A reception is set for tomorrow from 5 to 8 p.m.

The exhibiting artists are Elena Bajo, Eugenio Cuttica, Lautaro Cuttica, Isadora Capraro, Franco Cuttica, Mariah Fee, Christopher Lucore, Paton Miller, Adi Oren, Dalton Portella, Doug Reina, Alicia Suarez, and Jon Tierney.

Also in Montauk, “East3,” an exhibition organized by James Katsipis that includes work by more than 30 photographers, will open on Saturday at the Lucore Art Gallery, with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. It will run through Aug. 6.
