Naomi Watts, a multiple award-winning actress, will be recognized as the first recipient of Sag Harbor Cinema’s Voyager Award at the venue’s annual benefit, which will be held Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at the Bridgehampton Tennis and Surf Club.

The Voyager Award, according to the cinema, honors those whose work in film reflects the spirit of Sag Harbor — an international port for centuries, from which artists, actors, writers, and other risk-taking creatives have launched dreams and ideas, tested the waters, and explored the possibilities.

“Naomi’s extraordinary talent, dedication to her craft, and contributions to the film industry embody the spirit of our mission to celebrate and preserve the art form,” Genevieve Villaflor, the cinema’s executive director, said.

Ms. Watts, who has a house in Montauk, received Academy Award and BAFTA nominations for best actress in “21 Grams” (2003), Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for “The Impossible,” and she starred in “Birdman,” which won the Oscar for best picture in 2015. She recently starred as Babe Paley in the FX/Hulu series “Feud: Capote vs. the Swans.”

Other film credits include “Mulholland Drive,” “St. Vincent,” and “Diana,” in which she played the title role. On television she has appeared in “Twin Peaks,” “The Outsider,” and “The Watcher,” among many others.

“An actress of luminous depth and subtle nuances, Naomi Watts is always exciting to watch,” said Giulia D’Agnolo Vallan, the cinema’s founding artistic director. “Her choices reflect curiosity, a commitment to character and passion for film and its power, as well as the desire to engage with some of the best directors working today — from Lynch to Inarritu, Haneke, Eastwood, Bayona, Cronenberg, and Peter Jackson — but also with younger, less proven filmmakers.”

The benefit will open with a cocktail reception followed by dinner, a live auction, and dancing to the music of the HooDoo Loungers, finishing with a bonfire on the beach. On auction will be artworks by Ross Bleckner, Nanette Carter, Jeremy Dennis, Eric Fischl, Cornelia Foss, and David Salle. Also offered will be Billy Joel concert tickets, a golf outing at the Bridge with JJ Redick, the coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, and a barge trip in Belgium.

Tickets start at $2,000.

The Sweet Smell of Nostalgia at Sagaponack General

Stepping into the new Sagaponack General Store, which reopened yesterday after being closed since 2020, is a sweet experience, and not just because there’s a soft-serve ice cream station on the left and what promises to be the biggest penny candy selection on the South Fork on your right, but because it’s like seeing an old friend who, after some struggle, made it big. Really, really big.
