A sneak preview screening of “Blake Edwards: A Love Story in 24 Frames,” a new documentary directed by Danny Gold and set for release on PBS on Tuesday, will take place tomorrow at 6 p.m. at the Sag Harbor Cinema.
Julie Andrews, Edwards’s spouse and frequent artistic collaborator, will attend the screening and take part in a question-and-answer session afterward. Of Edwards, Ms. Andrews has said, “I don’t think I ever met a man as charismatic, as wicked, as funny, as vulnerable, as angry at times, as adorable and sweet as Blake.”
After starting out as an actor, Edwards moved into directing, helming such films as “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” “Days of Wine and Roses,” “The Pink Panther,” “10,” “S.O.B.,” “Victor/Victoria,” and “That’s Life.”
The documentary, part of the American Masters series, features never-before-seen archival video and stills as well as interviews with family members and those who have worked with Edwards, including Lesley Ann Warren, Bo Derek, Rob Marshall, and Patton Oswalt.
“A big part of our year-round retrospective, ‘The Worlds of Julie Andrews,’ was devoted to the creative partnership between Ms. Andrews and Blake Edwards,” says Giulia D’Agnolo Vallan, the cinema’s founding artistic director. “It is a joy to be able to host the sneak preview of a film that is a celebration of that partnership. The fact that part of the documentary was shot at Sag Harbor Cinema will make the screening even more special.”
