Marshall Watson Talk

Marshall Watson, whose work as an interior designer has been featured in Architectural Digest and Beautiful Homes, will talk about his book “The Art of Elegance: Classic Interiors” on Saturday afternoon at 4 at St. Luke’s Hoie Hall in East Hampton.

Mr. Watson, who has a house in Springs, will discuss his approach to interior design and how his previous careers as a theater designer and actor have informed his work. He has been named a designer of the year by Traditional Home magazine and has been named to Luxe’s Gold List.

Of “The Art of Elegance,” Sophisticated Magazine said, “For his first book, Watson shares stunning imagery culled from his most impressive projects, ranging in style and locale from an Italianate village in Los Cabos to a seaside Newport Beach cottage.”

The talk is free.

Hard Bop Masters

The next iteration of Jazz Night at the Masonic Temple, presented in partnership with Hamptons Jazz Fest, is “Celebration of the Hard Bop Masters.” Set for Friday at 6:30 p.m., it will feature six renowned jazz musicians — Ada Rovatti, tenor saxophone; Randy Brecker, trumpet; Oscar Feldman, alto saxophone; Benito Gonzalez, piano; Essiet Okon Essiet, bass, and Claes Brondal, drums.

When doors open, guests can buy South Indian vegetarian food from Tapovana Lunch Box to enjoy during the program. The cost of a box is $20; plastic utensils will be available. Concert tickets are $20.

Drag Bingo

Our Fabulous Variety Show and LTV Studios are teaming up for their third drag-bingo event, set for Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wainscott venue. Hosted by OFVS drag queens RaffaShow and Julia Von Cartier, the family-friendly evening will feature bingo games, prizes, and pop-up drag performances.

General admission tickets are $25 and include three bingo cards, with additional cards available for purchase. Snacks, wine, beer, and tacos will be on sale as well.

Cabaret tables, which seat four for $175, come with premium seating; a bottle of wine or Prosecco from Bottle Hampton or four cans of beer from Springs Brewery; six bingo cards, and four bingo daubers.

Call for Actors

The Hampton Theatre Company will hold auditions for the role of Nick in a new production of Edward Albee’s “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday at the Quogue Community Hall. Directed by George Loizides, the production will open a three-week run on May 22; rehearsals will begin April 15.

In his mid-to-late 30s, Nick is a self-possessed and ambitious Midwestern biology professor with an athletic build. He is protective of his wife, Honey, but treats her like a child. The roles of George, Martha, and Honey have been cast.

Auditions will be from the script. Appointments can be scheduled by emailing [email protected] or by calling 631-653-8955. Performers unable to attend on the scheduled dates can request a separate appointment, at the director’s discretion.

Book Group

The winter book group of the Horticultural Alliance of the Hamptons will meet via Zoom on Saturday at 11 a.m. The format typically features three books selected and described by a member of the alliance — often with accompanying slides. Each segment is less than 20 minutes; the entire program lasts about one hour.

This month’s books are “Resilient Garden: Sustainable Gardening for a Changing Climate” by Tom Massey, presented by Pat Garrity; “The Garden Against Time: In Search of a Common Paradise” by Olivia Laing, presented by Alejandro Saralegui, and “Where the Old Roses Grow: Vita Sackville-West and the Battle for Beauty During Wartime” by Janelle McCulloch, presented by Alicia Whitaker.

Members will receive a link by email; nonmembers can receive the link at no charge by registering at

The Sweet Smell of Nostalgia at Sagaponack General

Stepping into the new Sagaponack General Store, which reopened yesterday after being closed since 2020, is a sweet experience, and not just because there’s a soft-serve ice cream station on the left and what promises to be the biggest penny candy selection on the South Fork on your right, but because it’s like seeing an old friend who, after some struggle, made it big. Really, really big.
