The Sticks and Stones Comedy Club will return to the Southampton Cultural Center tomorrow at 7 p.m. with a stand-up set by Palma Florentino and a screening of the Hamptons Comedy Film Fest short “Apple Pie Dreams.”
Ms. Florentino draws her humor from five kids, three grandchildren, two ex-husbands, and a lifetime of chaos, according to a press release. A regular on the Long Island comedy club circuit, she riffs on the absurdities of aging, the joys of realizing you don’t have to care anymore, parenting disasters, cheating men, and cancer — twice.
Directed by Alexander Vorobyev, “Apple Pie Dreams” is a comedic take on immigration — if such a thing is possible these days. A group of immigrants have no idea what’s in store when they sign up for Adelaide’s naturalization class. At first they’re excited to become American citizens, but Adelaide and their dashed expectations have them wondering if they should go back to where they came from.
Mr. Vorobyev has been working domestically and internationally on commercials, music videos, films, and social media content. Of “Apple Pie Dreams” he has said, “This film is important for the world, especially right now, as we explore the first-gen experience in the United States. As someone who immigrated here about 10 years ago, I not only related to the script but also worked with the producer to employ as many first-gen artists as we could. We got to celebrate both the difficulties and hopes immigrants may have when coming to the United States — and we did it all with a bit of humor!”
Elisha Jachetti, the film’s writer, producer, and star, and Mr. Vorobyev will attend the screening.
Doors will open at 6:30. Gusts can mingle in the venue’s art gallery and sample drinks and snacks while listening to original music by David Kra of Kraman. General admission is $35, reserved seating, $50, and V.I.P. tickets, $70.M.S.
