A Club for Deeper Bonds

Wed, 01/15/2020 - 12:08

Patricia Assui Reed, the owner of Matriark in Sag Harbor, has launched the Matriark Club, a series of workshops, dinners, and other events to be held mostly at the store.

“The impetus . . . came from my own longing to forge deeper connections with my friends and people in my community,” Ms. Reed wrote in a Facebook post. The founding members of the club include Amanda Fairbanks, a writer and one of the founders of The Shed, the former co-working space for women, Theresa Roden, founder of I-Tri, which seeks to empower adolescent girls, and Loretta Davis, the executive director of the Retreat, the East Hampton nonprofit that supports victims of domestic abuse.

Membership is free, but there may be a fee for certain events, depending on the cost to produce them, Ms. Reed said. Registration for the Club is by visiting the store’s website
