The Bridgehampton School was the beneficiary in November of expedited work by the Suffolk County Water Authority to install mains that connect the district's newly built classrooms and fitness center to the public water supply. The project allowed the district to open the facilities ahead of the completion of the rest of the construction.
In a statement, Robert Hauser, the district superintendent, thanked Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele Jr. and Jeffrey Szabo, chief executive of the water authority, for their help. "Our students have been working hard to stay connected to learning while working remotely for many weeks, and our emphasis has been to get them back here as soon as we can," Mr. Hauser said.
The district began bringing back students in seventh through 12th grades yesterday for in-person classes on a hybrid model. Split into two groups, one for grades seven, eight, and nine and one for grades 10, 11, and 12, there will be eight in-person school days for each group before the holiday break later this month. A schedule of those days is online at bridgehamptonschool.com.
