The Montauk School Board took action on Tuesday on two fronts: an ongoing building project that will see its decades-old portable classrooms replaced with new ones, and setting up the potential to use the school as a Covid-19 vaccine distribution site.

The board worked with Suffolk County to hammer out and approve an agreement that anticipates the future availability of vaccines so that students, staff, and community members can get their shots close to home.

According to Jack Perna, the district superintendent, the board also certified that "there is no environmental impact replacing the relocatable" classrooms as part of a routine review that normally accompanies building projects in New York State.
