David Cataletto, a history teacher at East Hampton Middle School, said that as a trustee he would work to get youth involved in the restoration of water bodies. He likened the effort to what he already does as a teacher, through field trips, tours, and beach cleanups, for example.
An East Hampton native, Mr. Cataletto grew up surfing and sailing, and wants to protect the town’s trails system and open lands. He is a trustee of the Amagansett Life-Saving and Coast Guard Station. Recognizing the threat that climate change poses to coastal communities, renewable energy is important, he said, referring to the South Fork Wind farm.
“I’m just excited about getting involved in all those different aspects,” he said, “and will get students involved and bring it to their attention, in the Middle School and throughout the school districts. I will be a key link for that.”
