New in Montauk
The owners of Pulcinella, a pizzeria and restaurant in Massapequa, have opened Pulcinella East on Edgemere Street in Montauk. The menu features pasta dishes such as pappardelle Bolognese for $29, and spaghetti with clams for $38, as well as chicken, veal, and seafood entrees.
Montauk Circle Burger, another new restaurant of Edgemere Street, offers appetizers such as lobster mac and cheese for $19, and steamed mussels for $16. The entrees include an array of burgers including the Montauk monster burger, half a pound of beef topped with half a pound of bacon, smoked cheddar cheese, lettuce, and tomato for $18. Vegan burgers, a chicken sandwich, and a fish sandwich are also available.
New in East Hampton
Dr. Smood, a vegan organic eatery with a dozen locations in New York City and Miami, has opened what it promises will be a “permanent location” on Newtown Lane in East Hampton Village. The spot offers takeout breakfast items, salads, juices, smoothies, and coffee.
At its stores here and elsewhere, Dr. Smood has what it describes as a “carefully crafted menu of organic performance foods and juice programs backed by science for optimal performance” for “body and mind.” It is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekends and plans to stay open year-round.
Bridgehampton Inn Cookbook
“The Bridgehampton Inn Look and Cook Book,” co-authored by Sybille van Kempen, the owner of the inn, her son, Kyle Fengler, the resident mixologist, and Brian Szostak, the executive chef, is now available at local bookstores and at Ms. van Kempen’s Loaves and Fishes gourmet food store in Sagaponack and cookware shop in Bridgehampton. Ms. van Kempen will visit BookHampton in East Hampton at 3 p.m. on Sunday, and the inn will hold a cookbook party featuring pulled porktacos and jazz music on June 18 from 4 to 6 p.m.
Artists’ Table
Jason Weiner, the executive chef and owner of Almond in Bridgehampton, will prepare a farm-to-table meal for the Watermill Center’s Artists’ Table brunch series at noon on Sunday. The event will include a presentation from two of the center’s artists in residence. Tickets are $100 per person and can be purchased on eventbrite.com.
Rosé Tasting
Domaine Franey Wines and Spirits in East Hampton will hold a free rosé tasting party from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday. More than 25 rosés will be available to sample, and the store will offer a discount on all still rosés.
Social Club Special
The Southampton Social Club will offer a $35 brunch special, including a complimentary glass of rosé, on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. The restaurant also offers a three-course prix fixe dinner for $39 on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Reservations are via resy.com.
1770 House Specials
The 1770 House in East Hampton is offering several dinner specials in June. From Sunday to Thursday through June 27, a three-course prix fixe dinner is $35 between 5:30 and 6:15 p.m. On Thursdays in the downstairs tavern, all dishes, including St. Louis-style pork ribs and hoisin-roasted duck fried rice, are $17.70. A selection of wines for $9 a glass is also available, as are beers for $5.
Same Faces, New Name
To reflect its broader geographic reach, the Amagansett Food Institute has changed its name to the East End Food Institute as of this month. The nonprofit, which is based in Southampton, works to connect East End farmers, food producers, and consumers and also operates South Fork Kitchens, a shared commercial kitchen space at Stony Brook Southampton.
