Instead of a Gala, Intimate Dinners for Bay Street

Thu, 05/13/2021 - 11:31
Although East End benefits have long been associated with a big tent, this year non-profit cultural institutions like Bay Street are rethinking the model.

In celebration of its 30th anniversary, Bay Street Theater will hold a series of outdoor fund-raising dinners through the late spring and summer. Tracey Mitchell, the executive director, and her husband Blaze Makoid, an architect, will host one featuring a performance by Richard Kind, an actor, at 7 p.m. on June 10 (rain date June 11). The cost is $2,500 per person, and only 28 seats are available.

Steve Sanders and Madelyn Simon will hold a 10-person dinner at 7 on June 23 (rain or shine). Mala and Jeff Sander will hold a 26-person dinner at 7 on June 24 (rain date June 25). Theresa Maglio will host 12 at 7 on July 8 (rain date July 9). Cindy and Devin Wenig will hold a 24-person dinner featuring a performance by G.E. Smith and Taylor Barton on a beach in Southampton at 7:30 on July 17 (rain date July 18). On July 23, Christine Wachter-Campbell and Bill Campbell will host dinner for 14 at 6:30 (rain date July 24), and Eric and Joyce Segal will hold an eight-person dinner at 7 on Aug. 19 (rain date Aug. 20). The cost for each is of these is $1,500 per person. All guests over 15 must be vaccinated. Tickets can be purchased on the theater's website.
