Two big culinary events are on the horizon: Super Bowl LIX and Valentine’s Day. The former calls for takeout, the latter for a night out.
For gridiron fans, Townline BBQ in Sagaponack has plenty of specials to go. Three come in bags. The Bag o’ Nuggs features crispy smoked pork ribs tossed in one of the restaurant’s wing sauces and served with Carolina white sauce.
The Bag o’ Wings? Fifty of ’em, served with blue cheese and a choice of sauce. There’s also a bag of Townline popcorn.
Trays, which serve 10 to 12 people, include a nacho tray with choice of pulled pork or pulled chicken, topped with baked beans, Jack and cheddar cheese, jalapeño, and sour cream. A tray of fried mac and cheese bites is also available.
Then there are the ’Que Combos. The pulled pork sandwich kit includes sliced bread or slider buns, coleslaw, pickles, baked beans, and chips. The chicken and rib dinner has smoked chicken and pork ribs served with coleslaw, pickles, baked beans, and cornbread. The Townline Extravaganza features pork ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and smoked chicken served with collard greens, baked beans, cornbread, and pickles. The combos can be ordered for four or eight people.

Nick and Toni’s in East Hampton will celebrate Valentine’s Day on Feb. 14 and Feb. 15 with a la carte specials in addition to its regular menu. The appetizer special is six Montauk Pearl oysters with a pomegranate citronette.
Main course options are homemade cavatelli with Alaskan king crab, fennel pollen, and toasted bread crumbs, and Long Island duck breast with cauliflower purée, sautéed brussels sprouts, and saba. Dessert is a chocolate hazelnut praline tart.
Almond restaurant’s Shades of Red menu will be the only menu offered on Valentine’s Day at the Bridgehampton eatery. The first course options are fried oyster sliders with kimchi mayo and basil, and royal red shrimp al ajillo with guajillo flatbread and saffron butter.
The entrees are Hudson Valley steelhead trout with red flannel hash, brussels sprouts, and bearnaise, or roast duck breast with Balsam red kraut and black pepper spaetzle. Beignets for two with Amarena cherries, almond brittle, and pink peppercorn anglaise are the finishing touch.
Il Buco al Mare in Amagansett is offering a four-course prix fixe menu for Valentine’s Day. The meal will begin with Montauk Pearl oysters and calamansi mignonette. The second course choices are red endive with pistachio and anchovy; steak tartare with egg and Perigord truffle, and torchio pasta with duck ragu, radicchio, and lemon.
Main course options are rack of lamb with couscous, braised lamb neck, and chermoula, or turbot with chanterelles, fumet, and fino sherry. Desserts are apple crostata with crème fraîche; vanilla panna cotta with 10-year aged balsamic, and chocolate tart with crème fraîche, olive oil, and sea salt.
The cost is $125, not including tax and gratuity.
Calissa in Water Mill will offer specials on Feb. 14 and Feb. 15 in addition to its regular a la carte menu. Highlights will include baked sea bass with capers, green olives, saffron, tomato, and white wine, and osso buco with mashed potatoes and a red wine reduction. Chocolate-covered strawberries are available for dessert.
A D.J. will bring music to the lounge starting at 9:30, and couples can dine in the Calissa Chalet, which the venue promises is a “cozy and intimate dining experience.”
For those who prefer a romantic evening at home, the Cookery in East Hampton has you covered with special main courses and desserts. The mains are char-grilled marinated double lamb chops, filets of beef wrapped in puff pastry, and Thai lump crab cakes.
Desserts include Valrhona flourless mini cakes with strawberries and whipped cream; heart-shaped chocolate-chocolate cake with whipped ganache and fresh berries; a box of handmade chocolates, truffles, and “love cookies,” and a red velvet roll with ganache buttercream and gold-dipped roses.
