More for Valentine’s Day
Fresno restaurant in East Hampton will serve a la carte specials in celebration of Valentine’s Day from tomorrow through Sunday. Appetizers are lobster bisque with crème fraîche; a seafood tower with poached shrimp, oysters on the half shell, littleneck clams, and snow-crab claws, and hamachi crudo with radish, pomegranate seeds, and aji Amarillo pepper sauce.
The entree options are pan-seared local fluke with saffron risotto, yellow oyster mushrooms, English peas, and lobster beurre blanc, or baked beef Wellington with mushroom duxelles, roasted fingerling potatoes, baby carrots, and green peppercorn sauce. The dessert is chocolate pot de crème.
The regular a la carte menu will also be available.
Highway restaurant in Wainscott is offering a Valentine’s Day tasting menu for two tomorrow from 5 to 9 p.m. Priced at $125, it includes oysters on the half shell with ponzu and chives; hamachi crudo with crispy potato, avocado purée, and togarashi; kale salad with sugar snaps, tempura flakes, and yuzu sesame dressing; roasted curried cauliflower soup; steamed whole branzino with dashi, ginger, scallions, and sticky rice, and, for dessert, chocolate tart with raspberry sorbet.

Loaves and Fishes in Sagaponack has a takeout menu that could make for a special Valentine’s Day at home. Available from Wednesday through Sunday, it includes grilled citrus salmon, Thai shrimp cakes, pepper-crusted filet of beef, Parmesan-crusted chicken schnitzel, Moroccan lamb stew, tomato leek soup, gravlax on endive, tuna Nicoise, and, for dessert, chocolate layer cake or Valentine strawberry cake.

Il Buco al Mare in Amagansett is offering a four-course prix fixe menu for Valentine’s Day. The meal will begin with Montauk Pearl oysters and calamansi mignonette. The second course choices are red endive with pistachio and anchovy, steak tartare with egg and Perigord truffle, and torchio pasta with duck ragu, radicchio, and lemon.
Main course options are rack of lamb with couscous, braised lamb neck, and chermoula, or turbot with chanterelles, fumet, and fino sherry. Desserts are apple crostata with crème fraîche, vanilla panna cotta with 10-year-aged balsamic, and chocolate tart with crème fraîche, olive oil, and sea salt.
The cost is $125, not including tax and gratuity.
Wine Classes
Park Place Wines and Liquors in East Hampton is continuing its wine classes this winter. Next up on Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. is Demystifying Burgundy. Participants will get a taste of the intricate nuances that make Burgundy special, along with light bites from the Cookery in East Hampton. The cost is $45. Fans of the Harvest on Fort Pond, in Montauk, have one more weekend to pay a visit before the restaurant closes for a few weeks. Sunday is the final night of service before the break.
Main Prospect restaurant in Southampton has announced it is closing its doors after three years at the former John Duck’s. It isn’t goodbye, it’s “see you soon,” said Binh Douglas, the restaurant’s owner, who looks forward to creating new experiences for the community.
