Hayground School students are bringing the Bard to the Bridgehampton School this week, with two performances of William Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” on Thursday. Members of Shakespeare and Company, from Lennox, Mass., have returned for their 27th year to work with the students to stage a production.

In an announcement from Hayground, four Shakespeare and Company members — Abigail St. John, Kirsten Mulrenan, Naire Poole, and Ellie Bartz — said they are excited to return for another session with the school. “The students are a joy to work with and the community is always so welcoming,” they said in a statement.

The entire student body, with students ranging from 3 to 13 years old, gets involved. And for some students, the tradition has become a highlight.

“It’s my favorite time of year at this school,” said Rosa, a 9-year-old student.

An 8-year-old classmate, Julian, said he has grown a lot by engaging with Shakespeare, and for the first time he will have spoken lines. “Over the course of the last two years,” he said, “I got more comfortable with the idea of speaking and I’m excited to have this part this year.”

The two performances of “The Tempest” will be at 1 and 6 p.m. on Thursday at the Bridgehampton High School auditorium, and are free for all to attend.
