Ruby Honerkamp will host a curated pop-up shopping event with local female entrepreneurs, designers, and artists on Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett. Jewelry, art, beauty products, and other merchandise by Superflower, Jillian Aldrich Jewelry, Bjorn Vintage, Aluna's Vintage, Coaco Masks, and Meeses Pieces Mosaics will be offered.

Last week, a clarification by the New York State Liquor Authority led to cancellation of live music at the Talkhouse, which had resumed performances on July 30. "Since Covid hit, the Talkhouse has obviously been greatly impacted," said Ms. Honerkamp, whose father, Peter Honerkamp, is an owner of the venue, "and while I'm not as close to the day-to-day business operations, the thing that pains me the most is the loss of having a center of the community and the collective and eccentric energy that ignites the space."

While the Talkhouse is unable to host live music, the pop-up shopping event represents a reimagining of the venue and an opportunity to support other local businesses, Ms. Honerkamp said.

Masks will be required for entry and a limited number of people will be allowed onsite.

Also Saturday, Susan McGraw Keber of the East Hampton Town Trustees will offer face masks, T-shirts, and sweatshirts for sale on the grounds of the Lamb Building, at 267 Bluff Road, on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Many articles will feature Ms. McGraw Keber's "balloon fish" design, which she created to convey the message that balloons are hazardous to marine life.

Proceeds will benefit the trustees' William T. Rysam Fund, which benefits a scholarship awarded to graduating high school students for their college education. Payment is by cash or check.

Time to Strip, Dip, Freeze

Polar plunges at Main Beach in East Hampton and Beach Lane in Wainscott on New Year’s Day accomplish many things: bracing and exhilarating starts to the year, the company of many hundreds of friends and fellow townspeople, and a chance to secure bragging rights that extend well into 2026. But most important, each serves as a critical fund-raiser for food pantries.

Support Where It’s Most Needed

Soon after moving to Water Mill with her family in 2015, Marit Molin became aware of a largely unacknowledged population underpinning the complicated Hamptons economy. That led her to create Hamptons Community Outreach, which is dedicated to meeting basic critical needs to help break cycles of poverty.

Item of the Week: From Mary Nimmo Moran, Christmas 1898

This etching by Mary Nimmo Moran shows what was likely the view from her home across Town Pond, with the Gardiner Mill in the background, a favorite landscape for her.
