Take Southampton Town's Marijuana Survey

Southampton Town wants the public's opinion about the sale and onsite use of recreational marijuana.

In light of New York State's legalization of marijuana, which Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo signed on March 31, the Town of Southampton is considering how to regulate its retail sale and use at cafés and lounges, specifics that are left to the discretion of individual municipalities.
 
The Southampton Town Board has put out an online survey to gauge public opinion and support for the sale and onsite use of recreational marijuana at designated locations within the town. The survey will not ask about cannabis products bought and sold for medicinal purposes, according to an announcement.
 
“The town board wants to better understand community opinion on this issue before deciding how best to proceed,” Supervisor Jay Schneiderman said in a statement.
 
The survey, which takes two minutes to complete, is at surveymonkey.com/r/TOSMRTA through July 2. It is also on the town’s website, southamptontownny.gov, in both English and Spanish.
