Blessing of the Animals in Bridgehampton

Thu, 09/22/2022 - 11:56

On Sunday at 5 p.m., St. Ann's Episcopal Church in Bridgehampton will hold its annual Blessing of the Animals service.

The blessing originated as part of the celebration of the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the environment. The ceremony is typically short, involves a spritzing of holy water, and celebrates the bond between humans and their pets.

"All are welcome to attend this much-loved service in honor of our furry friends," the church said in an announcement, "who are also welcome to attend and receive a blessing!"
