The third annual Magic of Montauk Holiday Fair will bring live reindeer, vendors, food trucks, beer and wine, live music, and a hot cocoa contest to downtown Montauk on Saturday from 2 to 7 p.m. There will be children’s activities and a Santa meet-and-greet, too.

Inlet Seafood restaurant will host its annual boat parade Saturday evening at 5. Commercial fishing boats illuminated with Christmas decor will sail through Montauk Harbor, with a $1,000 fuel credit prize for the most festive boat. Tickets are $100 with all proceeds going toward the Montauk Food Pantry, the Greg Donohue Fund, and the Montauk Youth Association.

The Third House Nature Center will host a free Americana Christmas Celebration Sunday afternoon at 4:30. With a variety of local bands and performers playing holiday music, it promises to be a festive night with plenty of opportunities to sing along.

In Amagansett Square on Saturday, there will be caroling by Amagansett students, treats provided by the Reform Club, arts and crafts at the Pink Chicken store and Meeting House restaurant porch, and a visit from Santa Claus. The fun happens from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This year’s Amagansett Village Improvement Society holiday party at the hamlet’s Fire Department headquarters on Main Street will be from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. Santa will arrive by fire truck, and he and Mrs. Claus will distribute treat-filled stockings to children. The large Christmas tree by the firehouse will be lighted, refreshments will be served, and the Ukeladies will perform spirited songs.

Just down the street, the Amagansett Presbyterian Church will have a holiday open house on Sunday at 5. There will be refreshments and caroling.

Rowdy Hall (the House) Is on a Roll

Long before the name “Rowdy Hall” was adopted by a popular East Hampton Village bar and eatery (now in Amagansett), it was a boarding house: Mrs. Harry Hamlin’s Rowdy Hall. The building, now a single-family house, still stands at 111 Egypt Lane, although currently it’s floating, suspended six feet above a hole. When it’s lowered again, it will be on a new foundation.
