A Poet Meets a Novelist in Springs

Wed, 09/25/2024 - 11:28

A program called Poet Meets Novelist will bring Grace Schulman, author of "Again, the Dawn: New and Selected Poems, 1976-2022," and Elizabeth Birkelund, whose novel "A Northern Light in Provence" was published in May, to the Arts Center at Duck Creek in Springs on Saturday at 4 p.m.

The writers will read from their work and talk about their early influences and the many things that drew them to writing. They will also consider what it is about both poetry and prose that deepens our feelings, awakens our senses, and allows us to see the world anew.

The author of nine books of poetry, Ms. Schulman received the Frost Medal for Distinguished Lifetime Achievement in American Poetry and is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters.

In addition to her two previous novels, "The Runaway Wife" and "The Dressmaker," Ms. Birkelund has written for numerous national publications, including Glamour, Self, Working Woman, and Victoria.

The program is free to attend.

In Real Estate Now, It’s All About Lifestyle

The name of the game in real estate marketing has always been print, signage, and Main Street storefronts showcasing the latest listings. While East Hampton Village still has about a dozen storefronts where potential buyers can swoon over photographs of what’s for sale, the marketing is shifting.
