An evening of music, dancing, food, and fun on Friday from 7 to 11 at the Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett will raise money for the Kendall Madison Foundation’s scholarship fund. Tickets cost $25 each or $40 for two and can be bought at the door. D.J. Dubbcity will provide the music, and there will be cash raffles.

Each year for the past two decades, the foundation has awarded a $10,000 college scholarship to a graduating East Hampton senior who has played two or more high school sports. Application information is available through the high school’s guidance office. This year’s applications are due on May 6. The fund also benefits from a tipoff basketball tournament at the high school and a golf outing at the Maidstone Club, both in the fall.

Birds Here Are in Trouble

Birds are in trouble everywhere, but it turns out our birds here on the East End are in even worse shape than most. On our beaches, shorebirds have lost 33 percent of their population since 1970, and in our trees, songbirds continue to experience significant population declines, losing 27 percent in the same period, according to the 2025 State of the Birds report from the North American Bird Conservation Initiative.
