The Suffolk County Health Department traced a cluster of Covid-19 infections to the early voting site at the Stony Brook Southampton campus, County Executive Steve Bellone said in press briefing on Wednesday.

Ten people who had been on site, including six poll workers, had tested positive and are now in quarantine, as are 48 other individuals they had come in contact with, he said.

Mr. Bellone said there has been a steady uptick in positive cases, and that the infection rate in the county has not been below one percent since Oct. 21.

"Over the last week, we've averaged a nearly 1.5 percent positivity rate," he said. "These numbers are a concern with winter approaching, [and] with the virus surging in other parts of the country."
