Thu, 04/30/2020 - 10:42

Charles Thomas Mockler of Bridgehampton, a self-employed house painter, died of cancer on April 24 at the Kanas Center for Hospice Care on Quiogue. He was 68 and had been ill for four months.

Born in Southampton on Oct. 18, 1951, to Charles Mockler and the former Helen Whelley, he grew up in Bridgehampton and graduated from the hamlet’s high school. He attended Ithaca College before graduating from Fordham University with a bachelor of science in business.

Mr. Mockler loved to surf and often traveled to Bali to test his skills against the waves there. It was during one of those trips that he met the former Uun Uritowati, whom he would marry on Dec. 10, 1999. She survives.     He taught driver’s education classes, enjoyed golfing, and was a member of the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church in Bridgehampton.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a stepdaughter, Aprillina Setyawati of Sag Harbor, and a stepson, Adit Nugraha, also of Bridgehampton. He also leaves two sisters, Lally Mockler of East Hampton and Mimi McGrath of Milton, Mass., and a step-grandson.
