Amagansett

A road-rage incident on the afternoon of June 30 will end up costing the reported victim about $200. Michael McHugh told police he was driving west on Amagansett Main Street near Indian Wells Highway when a motorcycle stopped suddenly in front of him. When he tried to pass it, the driver deliberately damaged his side mirror, then sped off.



East Hampton

A wallet left in a parked car on Berryman Street was stolen overnight on May 26. Cassidy Walsh told police she was missing a couple of credit cards, two gift cards valued at $200, and her driver’s license.



East Hampton Village

A caller reported “a suspicious person, possibly intoxicated, on a bike” on Methodist Lane early on the morning of the Fourth of July. “Subject gone on arrival,” was an officer’s conclusion.



Another officer, at about the same time, was dispatched to the intersection of Toilsome and Mill Hill Lanes, “reference loud music from somewhere in the area. Unable to locate any music,” the officer reported.



Police were dispatched to Town Pond last Thursday after a dog was reported swimming there. An officer was “able to coax the dog out of the water.” The dog’s owner, a resident of Ocean Avenue, was called and took the animal home.



Cittanuova was the target of some youthful vandals last Thursday, who, management told police, tossed several rocks at the open restaurant before fleeing.



A New York man refused to pay his bill at the Blue Parrot the night of July 2 until an officer arrived, when he paid up and went on his way.



A Georgica Road woman returned from the city on July 2 to find a minivan pulling out of her driveway with her Weber gas grill in the back. Police contacted the minivan’s owner, who told them that his driver was supposed to pick up a gas grill from a Georgica Road house and must have gone to the wrong address. The owner of the house where the pickup was supposed to occur confirmed the man’s story, and the gas grill was returned the next morning.



Montauk

A nine-and-a-half-foot Channin surfboard was reported missing last week. Nicholas Loeffler of Amagansett told police he had left the board in the Ditch Plain Beach parking lot on June 30 for a couple of hours, and it was gone when he returned. It has a wrap-around graphic on top and was in a tan bag. It was valued at $2,000.



The exterior of the bathroom building at the Ditch Plain parking lot was vandalized with graffiti on June 20.



A nylon bag left in the parking lot of the Tipperary Inn on West Lake Drive was stolen around midnight last Thursday. Michael Chaut of Forest Hills told police he had left the bag unattended for several hours. It had about $500 in cash inside, he said.



The lines securing three watercraft docked at East Lake Marina were tampered with on the night of July 4, leaving a Bayville couple sleeping on their boat to wake up around midnight and find themselves 20 to 30 yards from the dock. The Coast Guard was called and brought the boat back in. Clayton Pinkerton told police he had secured the boat before going to sleep in the cabin. The lines on a nearby catamaran were also loosened, and a third craft was completely untied, drifting out until it got “beached on lobster pots a few marinas away.”



Nelly’s Deli on South Embassy Street was burglarized early last month. Segundo Tacuri told police that about $1,100 was taken from the cash register, along with several personal items. The register had a time stamp, police said, that showed when the theft occurred, at 1 a.m. on June 8. Detectives are investigating.



Two wallets were removed from a handbag at The Point Bar and Grill on the night of June 29 while the bag’s owner was on the dance floor. Carly Klaire of Huntington Station told police she was missing a metallic wallet with a zipper, a black iPhone 5 in a blue case holding two credit cards, and a dark gray wallet with $40 cash, more credit cards, and her driver’s license.



A Bethpage woman left her wallet in her locked room at the Wavcrest Resort while she spent a couple of hours at the beach June 28 and $80 was stolen. The management promised to reimburse Lauren Muller for her loss.



Sag Harbor

The management of D.J. Hart, a Main Street clothing store, was able to identify a shoplifter who took clothes from the store on July 1. Police paid the woman a visit, at which time she agreed to pay for the items. No charges were pressed.



The Water Mill owner of a 2005 Aston Martin left the Sag Harbor Service Station on Hampton Street last Thursday without paying for his annual inspection. Gregory Miller told police he would try to contact the man himself.



A black hybrid Trek bicycle was stolen from the front porch of a Rysam Street house on July 2. Michael Quilty, who valued the bike at $800, told police it was six months old and had a basket behind the seat.



A Hempstead Street man complained to police Monday that a low-flying seaplane had passed over his house several times in the past few weeks. James Tripp told police he wanted the incident on record.



Springs

Obscenities were found late last month carved into the shingles near the front door of a Bryant Street house. Police were told that the vandalism occurred between June 20 and June 28.
