Police also said, in a press release, that Mr. Ludwick had lost control of his Porsche, crashing it into a telephone pole on Rolling Hills Court East. Mr. Hansen was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

Aug. 30, 7:40 p.m.: Sean P. Ludwick, a former partner in BlackHouse Development, a New York City real estate firm, was charged with drunken driving early Sunday morning following a one-car crash in which his passenger was killed.

Sgt. Steve Miller of the Southampton Town Police Department said that Mr. Ludwick, 42, who owns a house in Sag Harbor, was being held at police headquarters, awaiting arraignment Monday morning at Southampton Justice Court in Hampton Bays. Police have not yet released the name of the victim.

Mr. Ludwick was driving a Porsche on Rolling Hills Court in Noyac shortly before 2 a.m., Sergeant Miller said, when the crash occurred. In addition to the drunken-driving charge, police charged Mr. Ludwick with leaving the scene of an accident in which a fatality occurred. He was arrested a little over an hour after the crash.
