Liquid Marijuana Charges | The East Hampton Star

A 50-year-old and a 17-year-old were arrested in separate incidents earlier this month after being found in possession of liquid marijuana.

The man, Allen Brett Cooper of Englewood, Fla., was arrested during a traffic stop on Second House Road in Montauk on June 19. East Hampton Town police stopped his 2001 Nissan at about 2:40 a.m. after he allegedly failed to signal. When he rolled down his window, the officer said he got a whiff of marijuana.

According to the report, police found 10 smoking device cartridges along with two small containers holding a brown substance that later tested positive for the presence of marijuana. He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Following an arraignment later that day, Justice Lisa R. Rana released him on his own recognizance.

The night before, police pulled over a carload of teens in Amagansett. The 17-year-old, who lives in that hamlet, was the driver of a 2003 Volkswagen that was stopped on Napeague Meadow Road shortly after 11:25 p.m., when a complaint about shooting off fireworks was called in.

During the stop, the officer noticed glass pipes, a scale, and Ziploc bags inside the car. Two e-cigarettes containing a brown liquid that later tested positive for marijuana and a glass bottle labeled “medical cannabis tincture” were found in the glove box, according to police.

The teen was charged as Mr. Cooper had been, but police withheld his name because he is eligible for youthful offender status. He was released with an appearance ticket.

Also on June 18, an East Hampton man was charged with having a forged inspection certificate. Rodrigo A. Munoz, 62, was pulled over in a 1999 Nissan on Abraham’s Path, near Accabonac Road in East Hampton, at about 7:35 p.m. The inspection certificate displayed in the windshield was for a 2015 Ford, police said.

Mr. Munoz was released on $100 station-house bail, with instructions to appear in Justice Court on July 11.

A Barry Lane, Springs, man told police that someone claiming to be from Amazon had called him in regard to a $996 charge on his account for an iPhone 16. When he said he didn’t have an Amazon account, he was transferred to someone who identified himself as a Social Security employee, accused him of money laundering, and told him to expect a call from Nassau County police.
