Klever Lopez, who owns Inter-Deli on Pantigo Road in East Hampton, reported $2,500 stolen from the glove box of his car on Friday or Saturday, anywhere between Springs, where he lives, the Restaurant Depot in Bohemia, or the deli.
Victoriano Gabilanes said he received a call on April 11 from a man claiming to be with the I.R.S., who said the agency had arrested someone in Florida driving his vehicle with cocaine in it. The caller asked for Mr. Gabilanes’s Social Security number, which he said was necessary to confirm he is the owner, and then provided the last four digits of Mr. Gabilanes’s Social Security number asking him to provide the rest. When the caller asked for banking information, Mr. Gabilanes became suspicious and hung up.
East Hampton Village
Two cars were reportedly doing doughnuts in the parking lot of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Buell Lane and Church Street on April 23 at about 1:40 a.m. Police found the cars and drivers, who claimed they were taking pictures of their cars and said they would be leaving. The sergeant who responded informed them the parking lot was private.
A caller reported a pair of binoculars hanging on a sign at the head of Georgica Beach on April 24 around 8:40 a.m. Police have them in a property locker waiting to be claimed.
Six signs for an employment drive were placed on public property in the village in violation of the village code on Saturday morning. Police spoke to the person who placed them and he moved them to private property. A warning was issued.
Signs at the corner of Buell Lane and Main Street, as well as Maidstone Avenue and Gingerbread Lane, for a yard sale on Buell Lane on Saturday were also in violation of the village code. Police returned the signs to the owner and issued a summons.
North Haven
Sag Harbor Village police assisted Southampton Town police after a man, who was thought to possibly have a weapon, barricaded himself in a second-floor bedroom of a house on Ferry Road on Sunday at around 2:35 p.m. The man eventually surrendered and was taken into police custody without incident.
Sag Harbor
A woman who lives in an apartment on Main Street called police about loud music coming from a business below on April 24 just after 11 p.m. An officer spoke to the business manager, who turned off the music.
Sag Harbor Village police responded when a windsurfer appeared to be in distress off Long Beach in Noyac on April 24 at about 5:30 p.m. Bob Bori, the harbormaster, reported the windsurfer had been about 300 yards off Bay Point and made it to shore without assistance.
“A group of youths” were riding bicycles and “doing tricks” in the village, according to a woman who called police on April 26 at about noon. Police looked but could not find the kids. Bicycling is prohibited in the downtown area.
Wainscott
The owners of the 380 Inn on Montauk Highway received verbal threats by telephone on April 24. Douglas and Rosarii Dowd said someone had booked a weeklong stay at the inn through Expedia. The credit card provided was ultimately declined, and the person, who agreed to do odd jobs at the inn to work off the debt, failed to do so. The inn charged $200 to the credit card to satisfy the remainder of the debt. After the charge was made, however, the man, who was upset, made the threats. Police advised him to have no further contact with the Dowds.
