East Hampton

A Bose speaker and a black raincoat were taken from a truck parked at East Hampton High School on April 27. Someone entered the pickup at about 2:30 p.m., shattered the rear window, and opened the rear cap. Surveillance footage shows a suspect getting into the truck, then getting out and walking to the passenger side and getting in. The owner of the stolen items, whose name was not released, did not pursue charges.

Amy Reed, an East Hampton Town bus driver, reported minor damage to the passenger side of a 2012 Ford bus that occurred while it was parked at the East Hampton Town Senior Citizens Center on Friday morning. The cost to repair the damage was not given.

East Hampton Village

A Newtown Lane resident, whose name was blacked out on the report, called police on May 8 to report a series of intrusions on his property that he said were connected with construction at a neighboring house. Some stockade fence was torn down thanks to heavy equipment, he said, and workers had piled wood and debris against the fence and used a marker to write on it. He also said the vinyl siding on his house had been stained by silt and dirt blown from the construction site. He wants the construction company to pay for his house to be power-washed. The incident was listed as a civil matter.

Three boxes of about 200 pieces of brass and copper plumbing fittings, worth about $5,000, were stolen from the East Hampton Y.M.C.A. RECenter on Gingerbread Lane between May 5 at 3 p.m. and May 8 at noon, according to a contractor. The boxes were stored in an upstairs room.

Police responded to Pantigo Road just after midnight on Friday because a man, who was not identified but reported to be 30 years old, was standing on the sidewalk yelling. The man, who lives nearby, said he had lost his identification and was upset because he could not find it. He agreed to go home.

Montauk

While mowing the grass along Madison Hill Drive in Camp Hero on May 8, Robert Miller, an East Hampton Town Highway Department employee, said the machine picked up a lug wrench that was in the tall grass, which then struck a 2005 camper parked nearby, causing a small dent. The employee filed a report for the record.

Sag Harbor Village

Robert S. Zlobec complained to police about someone making noise in the area of 354 Main Street on Saturday. Investigating, police found a man sitting in his car talking on a cellphone to his wife using the Bluetooth speaker in the car.

An employee at Ava’s, a jewelry shop on Long Wharf, phoned police when she discovered a man making a video of the display cases with his cellphone on Saturday at about 4 p.m. He left the store when she confronted him. An officer canvassed the area with no results.

Sandi Kruel found the exterior Dutch door of a house on Henry Street that she watches damaged on Sunday. Thinking someone had tried to pry it open, she tried to keep its two parts shut with an electrical cord. When she returned to the house on Sunday at 6:30 p.m., she found the wire had been cut, but nothing was missing.

Springs

A Swiss Army knife, house keys, and a Hostess cupcake were taken from a pickup truck parked in the driveway of an Eau Claire Street house on the night of May 1, according to police, who said there was no sign of forced entry. The only missing item that police gave a value for was the cupcake — $2.

Wainscott

On the evening of April 29, Brandon Wagner of Southampton heard a suspicious noise outside the house he was staying in on Hedges Lane, “like someone was messing with his vehicle.” When he went out to his 1989 Chevrolet truck the next day he found the side panels had been cut and reported the damage to police.
