East Hampton

A Specialized mountain bicycle, worth $1,600, was reported stolen from Muir Boulevard on June 25. Alfredo Castillo told police that afternoon that he just wants his bike back and isn’t interested in pressing charges if the bike is returned.  

Police were called on June 16 about a fight on Accabonac Road at around 11:10 p.m. Darian Donegal, 21, told officers he returned home to find a large group of people he didn’t know in his driveway. An argument ensued and punches were thrown. Mr. Donegal suffered minor bruising under his right eye. He refused to allow police to take any photographs to document his injury and declined to press charges.

A taxi was stolen on June 17 after passengers refused to pay the driver the fare at 2:30 a.m. Miguel A. Abudmendez, who works for Ocean Taxi, told police he picked up six people from the Memory Motel in Montauk and drove them to a house on Collins Avenue for an agreed fare of $160. When they arrived, all the passengers left the cab and went into the house without paying up. The driver knocked on the door and confronted four women inside. During the argument, he noticed his taxi, a 2015 Toyota Highlander, had vanished. He dialed 911, hurried down North Main Street toward the I.G.A. looking for it, and saw it parked in front of Mitad Del Mundo Express. The engine was running and the keys were in the ignition. Police went back to the Collins Avenue house and spoke to the four women, who said the two men they were with in the cab had left the area. They agreed to pay $100 of the fare. 

Nine window screens were removed from a house on Two Holes of Water Road recently. Diane Rosen, who filed a report on June 16, said four of the screens’ aluminum frames were damaged. 

A resident of the Oakview Highway mobile home park complained that a neighbor had come to her front door and yelled at her for parking in the neighbor’s parking spot. Maria Idrova-Sigcha said this had been an ongoing issue since she moved in. Police advised the neighbor not to go onto her neighbor’s property. 

A man who gave his name as John Maximilian Sixtensson Runske, of County Cork, Ireland, was arrested Saturday afternoon after police said he admitted to trespassing on Gardiner’s Island. Police received a complaint around 10:20 a.m., and East Hampton Marine Patrol responded, finding the yacht Arriva anchored off the private island. Officials asked if someone from the yacht had gone onto the island, and the 29-year-old Mr. Runske, a crew member, admitted to walking on a dock and onto the grounds. He was charged at 1:30 p.m. with the violation, and released with a ticket to appear in court at a later date.

East Hampton Village

Police confiscated three political signs posted on Railroad Avenue and on Gingerbread Lane on June 25, the day before the Democratic congressional primary, and two on Gingerbread Lane on Primary Day. The signs were in violation of the village code. 

A flag person working at the traffic circle under construction on Buell and Toilsome Lanes called police on June 25 after a driver disobeyed his signal and sped around it. The flag person asked that police advise the driver of his “bad actions.” Police were unable to find the vehicle. 

A 2000 Nissan Xterra was apparently abandoned at 66 Newtown Lane. When police were notified on June 26, it had been sitting in the parking lot for about a week with no registration sticker or license plates. Because it was parked on private property, the village could not tow it.

Police removed a sign from public property at Montauk Highway and Baiting Hollow Road on Satuday that read, “Respect locals. You visit, it’s our community.” The officer was unable to identify the owner of the sign.

On Satuday at about 10:20 p.m., a 20-year-old man was found sleeping inside a stall in the men’s bathroom at the Reutershan parking lot. The man left without incident. 

Four juveniles riding their bicycles tossed eggs at a car driven by an Amagansett woman, on Gingerbread Lane near Fresno Place, at about 10:20 p.m. on Satuday. Police searched the area, but did not find them. No damage to the vehicle was reported.

Montauk

One of the guests staying in room 210 at Solé East damaged the room’s door in an attempt to gain access late on June 25 or the morning of June 26. Thomas Sajimbene told police that the wooden door jamb had been cracked beyond repair. The hotel staff attempted to contact the guest who rented the room, but she hung up the phone each time. The hotel charged the woman’s credit card on file.

Sag Harbor

Trevor Gray’s bicycle, a Trek valued at approximately $350, was stolen from outside Murf’s Tavern on Division Street during the night of June 25. He filed a report the next day. 

On June 27, movers delivering a couch to Darguil Onelio’s neighbors  on Church Street left it on the curb, on its side. It fell over, damaging his car. No word on how much repairs will cost.

A mountain bike was stolen from outside Page on Main Street last Thursday around 1:20 a.m. 

Jessica Arbia reported that last Thursday at around 3:30 p.m., someone threw something at her car while she was driving east on Sage Street, damaging the driver’s-side back door. The perpetrator claimed she was driving recklessly. 

Residents of a Main Street house told police that sewage was backing up through their toilet on June 30. They blamed nearby construction, and were told to contact the company responsible for the septic system.

A young man stole an HD video camera, worth $250, from 7-Eleven on Long Island Avenue on Friday at around 11:50 a.m. At the checkout counter, the suspect hid the camera underneath other items he had paid for, the report said. 

A bottle of Cloon Keen perfume, worth $100, was stolen from JANGEORGe Interior Design on Madison Street Friday around noon. The suspect is a woman about 30 years old. 

Springs

The snow fence installed by the town around the infield of the Maidstone Park baseball diamond was found rolled up and put to the side on June 26. Richard Webb, who works for the Parks Department, told police the fence was there to keep people off the field, as the grass was replaced about two months ago and was not ready for use. The fence and its stakes, which were last seen erect on June 20, were not damaged, nor was the field.

While the officer took the report, he was approached by Sharon S. Rack, who also works for the town, who said that while she was cleaning the men’s bathroom, she found someone had ripped the cover off the toilet paper holder and broken up the 2-by-12 foot piece of wood that makes a bench by the Maidstone Park Pavilion. The damage, totaling about $170, was done sometime between June 24 and 26. 

Wainscott

On Friday, Erin Sheehan of Blue Point, who was delivering a 2018 Jeep Wrangler for Enterprise Rent-A-Car to the East Hampton Airport, left her iPhone in the center console while she dropped off the vehicle. When she returned a few minutes later, around 11:15 a.m., the phone, which had a wallet case on it, was gone. A maintenance worker responsible for cleaning the vehicles denied seeing it.
