Two Hurt In Head-On

Thu, 05/23/2019 - 07:11

Bob Sisk, an East Hampton Town employee driving a town-owned 2004 Ford pickup truck on Springs-Fireplace Road near Queen’s Lane in East Hampton on Monday afternoon, crossed into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a 2004 Mercedes-Benz driven by Lisa Brown of East Hampton. Both drivers were taken by ambulance first to Southampton Hospital, then transported to Stony Brook University Hospital’s trauma center.

Capt. Chris Anderson of the East Hampton Town police said no citations were issued at the scene, but that the cause of the crash is the subject of an ongoing investigation. Ms. Brown, 53, suffered injuries to her lower right leg, and Mr. Sisk to his neck and head, Captain Anderson said. Mr. Sisk, 63, an employee of the town’s Parks Department, was reportedly on the job at the time of the accident.

Eric Brown, an East Hampton attorney who is Ms. Brown’s husband, said his wife had undergone a three-hour operation Tuesday involving multiple pins and plates. “The airbags really did their job,” Mr. Brown said, to limit the injuries. He said his wife remembers nothing that happened after the crash until she was being treated by an emergency medical technician from Amagansett.

“The guys who responded were fabulous,” Mr. Brown said. “We will get through it.”

Mr. Sisk was listed in good condition as of yesterday.
