Accident Snarls Afternoon Traffic in Amagansett

Update, 3:20 p.m.: Montauk Highway in Amagansett has been reopened, according to the East Hampton Town Police Department.

Originally, 2:20 p.m.: East Hampton Town Police have closed the westbound lane of Montauk Highway in Amagansett following a two-car crash on Thursday afternoon.

Heavy traffic delays in both directions have been observed in the vicinity of the accident, which occurred shortly before 2 p.m. just west of the Amagansett School. 

Police could not provide additional details, as first responders were still on the scene as of 2:20 p.m. Thursday. This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.

Attempted Swatting in Sag Harbor

Sag Harbor Village police have received several reports of “swatting” calls, falsely reporting an emergency, from Main Street businesses recently, three involving Sag Pizza and another, last week, involving Apple Bank.
