Missing an Interlock Device

Thu, 03/24/2022 - 10:05

Daniel Sicajau Cotzojay of Riverhead, 49, was eastbound on Montauk Highway near South Emery Street in Montauk on the morning of March 11 when police stopped his 2004 black Dodge pickup and discovered it was missing the interlock device with which it should have been equipped.

An interlock device is an in-car breathalyzer that prevents the vehicle from starting until the driver takes and passes a breath-alcohol test. A court may order its use after a conviction for drunken driving.

Mr. Cotzojay was processed and released with an appearance ticket. He was to have appeared in East Hampton Town Justice Court yesterday.
