Crashed After Falling Asleep

An accident in Springs on the evening of Aug. 31 was one of two recent incidents on local roads that resulted in injuries.

Diego Mora of East Hampton was driving a 2010 Toyota west on Church Lane near Ocean View Avenue last week when, he told officers, he fell asleep and crashed into a tree. The Toyota rolled over on its side; the driver was taken to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Anne Drager was riding a bike on South Edgemere Street in Montauk on Friday just before 8 p.m. Bryan Binder, driving a 2019 Porsche, was turning left from Industrial Road onto South Edgemere. The bike and the car collided, and Ms. Drager suffered a leg injury She was taken to the hospital by Montauk ambulance.

A 17-year-old girl fell victim to an online scam when she attempted to sell a prom dress on the website Poshmark on April 14. She ultimately sent more than $1,000 in Apple gift cards, thinking there was an error with her account after receiving an email from the company that turned out to be fake. An investigation is still ongoing.
