Amagansett

Strong winds overnight were to blame for damage to a shed door at Anthony Little’s house on Atlantic Avenue discovered on the morning of Nov. 27. “Broken pieces of the door were located in the area where the door reached its maximum swing-open angle,” police said in their official report, adding that there was no foul play.

Later that day, a man was seen urinating in public at the Amagansett train station. Police were called but were unable to find him.

Two residential water heaters were discovered illegally discarded near the Lazy Point boat launch shortly before midnight on Nov. 29. The Highway Department was called in to haul them away.

A car accident in which a driver swerved to avoid a deer on Friday around 3:45 a.m. damaged a stop sign and a hedge at a property at the intersection of Montauk Highway and Marlin Drive. Apparently unrelated to the accident, an outdoor shower at the residence was discovered to be running. A police officer shut off the water.

East Hampton

On Nov. 27, someone on Rose Avenue called the cops on two individuals who turned out to be police officers themselves responding to a separate call.

Montauk

A blue Mazda pickup truck belonging to a 25-year-old Texas woman got stuck on Navy Beach on the evening of Nov. 29. Two officers were able to push the vehicle to safety. The woman left the beach that night with an East Hampton Town-style souvenir: a ticket for lacking a beach-driving permit.

A 23-year-old Montauk man was seen vaping in his van after dark at Eddie Ecker County Park late last Thursday night. Even after the officer “made himself known” by pulling up in front of the van, the man continued to vape while listening to music, according to the report, earning him a ticket for loitering.

Barbara Schultz, who works at Sausages Pizza on Main Street, called the police on a man who began “yelling and complaining about food/drink prices” on Saturday night.

Springs

Shortly after 6 p.m. on Nov. 28, someone reported to police two people who were up on ladders doing work on utility poles. They were employees of Optimum and provided proper identification when asked to do so by police.

Police discovered a 31-year-old Hampton Bays man “fast asleep” late last Thursday night at Gerard Drive beach. He was ticketed because town rules prohibit camping on a beach. The officer waited until the man left in an Uber before leaving the scene himself.

“You need to get out of my room,” a man yelled as he walked into a Surf Lodge hotel room just before midnight on Friday, waking up a New York City woman who had been asleep in the bed. She asked him to test the entry code for the room and closed the door behind him. He left when he was unable to unlock the door.
