Police Seek Help Finding Missing East Hampton Man

Thu, 06/08/2023 - 20:36

The East Hampton Town Police Department is seeking the public's help in finding Lucas T. Desario, a town resident who was last seen at least a week ago. Mr. Desario's vehicle and belongings were found on South Eton Street in Montauk on Friday, June 9, the day his family reported him missing.

Mr. Desario is a white male, age 35, with brown hair and blue eyes. He is 5-foot-10.

The police searched the Montauk area using drones. A Southampton Village K-9 unit, the Coast Guard, Suffolk County police aviation units, and the East Hampton Ocean Rescue also helped in the search effort. Town police issued a "BOLO" alert — meaning "be on the lookout" — to loop in other police agencies, including Sag Harbor Village and those farther west.

"Unfortunately, he has not been found to date," Detective Sgt. Ryan Hogan, a town police spokesman, said on Tuesday. "The search is ongoing. We're still hoping he can be located."

As of press time this week, friends of Mr. Desario were also looking for him. They have described him as a talented photographer. In the past, some of his photos could be seen hanging on the walls at Fierro's Pizza in East Hampton Village, where he used to work.

"We love him, we miss him, we're thinking about him, and we hope he's safe," said a friend, Jody Gambino, on Tuesday.

Anyone who sees Mr. Desario or has information regarding his whereabouts over the last several days is encouraged to call East Hampton Town police at 631-537-7575. All calls will be kept confidential.
