Fireworks Over Three Mile Harbor

The annual fireworks display over Three Mile Harbor — a tradition for decades that in more recent years has been overseen by the Clamshell Foundation — is set for this weekend: Saturday if it’s clear, Sunday in case of rain.

The show can be seen for any of the beaches, marinas, or houses around the harbor, including the town marina at the head of the harbor, the Gann Road commercial dock, Maidstone Park, and Sammy’s Beach, and it’s a popular one for boaters, too, who begin to file into the harbor early in the day.

Donations to help ensure that this tradition continues can be made online at clamshellfoundation.org. The show will begin around 9.

Clammers take note: Because of the increased volume of boat traffic over the weekend, Three Mile Harbor is typically closed to shellfishing for several days.
