Carissa's Open
Carissa's Bakery in East Hampton has opened both its Pantigo Road and Newtown Lane sites this week. The bakery is featuring a new Balsam Farms grain loaf with local wheat, corn, rye, and oats from the farm, milled in house. A porridge nut bread is made with a savory custom porridge blend with roasted almonds, bread flour, sea salt, and a leavening agent that dates back to Amagansett in 1965.
For Ukraine, the kitchen is serving vegetarian borscht and grilled cheese. The sales from the special will benefit World Central Kitchen, which is feeding people affected by the war.
