Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney has secured a guilty plea from the first of five people accused of stealing $94,000 worth of handbags from the luxury retailer Balenciaga in East Hampton Village in March.

Visiting hours for David P. Hummel, who died at home in Springs on Thursday, will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in East Hampton. Masonic and Veterans of Foreign Wars services will immediately follow.
East Hampton Village’s Tuesday night music series at Main Beach rock and rolls closer to the end of the season with the Hoodoo Loungers and Bayside Tigers tonight at 6, weather permitting. Parking is free, but arriving early has been recommended.
This year, Nick Kraus of the Stephen Talkhouse organized 19 mostly local bands to perform throughout the summer. This coming Tuesday, Aug. 23, Reeb and Inner Roots will perform a reggae double bill.
Dirty Organic and Rum Punch Mafia play on Aug. 30, and Rubix Kube will appear on Sept. 6 to end the summer.
Visiting hours for Robin Schiavoni, a popular teaching assistant at Sag Harbor Elementary School who died on Friday, will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor. A memorial service will take place at 7 p.m.
