The New York State Liquor Authority and East Hampton Town have prohibited the Surf Lodge in Montauk from holding live outdoor musical performances after citing the establishment for numerous code violations including overcrowding, most recently for an event held there last September.
The Hamptons International Film Festival has selected screenplays by Barbara Cigarroa, Sontenish Myers, and Kirsten Tan for its 19th annual Screenwriters Lab. The lab, in which veteran screenwriters, directors, and producers mentor up-and-coming screenwriters over a weekend, will take place in East Hampton from April 5 to 7.
Although the mentoring sessions are private, the festival offers a screenwriting master class that is open to the public on April 6 that weekend.
A 2018 jury trial and verdict concluding that the Town of East Hampton was responsible for erosion west of the jetties at Montauk Harbor was overturned on Friday, when a judge granted the town's motion to dismiss the lawsuit.
The roots of the Hamptons Arts Network go back to December 2016, when a few representatives of local arts institutions got together at a bar in Sag Harbor to talk about how to move beyond informal, ad hoc partnerships to more focused and sustained collaborations that would not only involve supporting each other’s missions but also help stimulate the region’s off-season economy.
